The first National Vaping Day was on Thursday, March 22nd, 2012.
Get ready for 2013!

"Ask not what Vaping can do for you, but what you can do for Vaping."
We can all take part because there is something everyone/anyone can do. Ideas so far range from contacting your local radio station to talk about e-cigarettes, to just going to the local plaza at luchtime, vaping, and handing out cards to people who may be interested.
Do something! We all need to get involved because above all else, right now, we need numbers: lots more people to join the voices raised against commercial vested interests who want to take away our right to vape. Without the huge sums of money they have, all we have is our collective voice. Let’s use it.
Ideas for events and action
- Contact your local radio station and tell them about the Day
Contact your local newspaper and tell them about the Day- Download the A5 flyer we’ll have soon, print it, and hand it out
- Take some flyers to your doctor’s office
- Print the Health Info flyer and take to your doctor’s office
- Print off some of our Drop Cards to had out
- Take some flyers to your local pub
- Take some flyers to your local newspaper office
- Go to the local plaza, vape, and hand out flyers
- Organize a vapemeet at a local pub or diner (get management permission first)
You can see what happened on the day in 2012, next year will be better still!
2012 vapemeets are on our Google Maps page: http://g.co/maps/njr9p
The World Vaping Day Events Page on Facebook will be eclipsed in 2013 – bet on it!
Tell everyone your ideas in the Comments below!!

Thanks Gerald. Glad it went well. You can send the picture to:

We’ll try and get the pic onto the site. If you can write a paragraph about it that will also help. Thanks.

A bit late with telling about what to do on world vaping day. Although never the less we made the local news in Gibraltar. Gibraltar is a small British territory in the South of Europe attached to Spain. Below a cropped picture from the local newspaper ‘The Chronicle’ if image tags works of course.
We really like to celebrate this day each year! And many thanks for opening the initiative.
Happy vaping,
Gerald Kroeger

Image tags are stripped from comment. Could a moderator contact me if the picture is still wanted. It was a great success here, even got support from our local government.

I live in the middle of Britain in a small area called Alston Moor. It’s at the top of Cumbria on the border with Northumberland and County Durham. It is the highest market town in England and is considered to be a place of outstanding natural beauty. It also has a lot of pubs!! And places to stay.
I have already started organising a UK Vaping Day event. Have approached one of my local pubs and cafe – Alston House and they have agreed to host the event for the day. I am also going to approach all the other pubs to put up signs to say “Vaping here” (I personally have vaped in most of them) I have also approached my local council to see how they might help. Attracting tourist is always uppermost in their minds!!
I’ll post more as I get it underway. I have contact with all our local and county media and also might be possibly able to get some publicity from the BBC. I also am contacting suppliers to have samples for people to see/play with!!
If anyone would be prepared to help me advertise the event on the Internet I would really appreciate it. Or could people point me in the direction of realtime and virtual marketing info, like banners for pubs and website, information about ecigs I could print up on boards etc etc In the meantime……. I’ll just keep going!!

Apologies, another pedant here – will try to make time to proofread the rest of the site & email about any typos located later on!
Meantime I do have some concern regarding the assertion (mentioned several times) that e-cigs produce a “water-based mist” as I’d always understood this was NOT the case. Surely the vapour primarily consists of PG (or PG/VG/PEG) vapour with water being VERY much a minor constituent, if any at all?
As a result I’ve always advised anyone interested to avoid any online seller websites claiming “it’s only water vapour – like you get from a kettle” or similar as they either don’t know what they are selling or are being deliberately misleading; ie cowboys.
Aside from that one issue I’m seriously impressed by the clear, brief overview of vaping provided by pretty much the entire site – great effort people – so wonder if there are any plans to keep it available beyond “the day” itself? It’s an info resource I’d be delighted to point people at in future who just aren’t interested in spending hours, days, months etc trawling forums or vendor sites to research or inform themselves about the basics prior to giving vaping a try.
Look forward to seeing the A5 flyer “soon” and intend to print & distribute plenty – better get some more printer ink!!
Roly says:
@Wendy – *Water-based mist*
Yes, this is an interesting subject – and not as simple as it seems. In fact there is no full analysis of e-cig vapour extant, at least as far as I could find. I did go into this in detail in order to try and find some sort of answer to these questions, and the result is here:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/technical-research/149160-analysis-electronic-cigarette-vapor.html
- There are no full analyses available.
- Some show an ingredient list adding up to almost 100% but with no water listed, which since it must be present means we can discard such analyses as worthless.
- Some show strange levels of materials that are unlikely to have been present in the original sample, and are probably lab-introduced (such as large amounts of ethanol, probably from dilution for GC-MS testing; or phenols from internal meltdown due to inverted operation).
As a result of this I had to combine elements from various tests. What I came up with is that about two-thirds of the vapour is water, the next main ingredient is flavourings, and PG is typically about 3% of the mix. Since there is no single example in the literature of a 99% or better analysis that also includes the (obviously present) water content, it’s the best I could do.
Therefore, in my judgement, with the currently-available data, it is correct to refer to e-cigarette vapour as, “A water-based mist”, but incorrect to refer to it as, “Only water” or, “A PG mist” or, “A PG-based mist”. Water seems to be the main ingredient, followed by flavourings.
Roly says:
@Wendy – *Site lifetime*
Yes, the website will stay up permanently, and be added to as needed, so that as every year’s event comes round the site will be even better.
We may have to remove or change the dates and relevant text.
Eventually we want 50 countries listed – it will be our first major milestone – and strong consumer associations in each of those countries. It’s the only way we can push back against unjust regulations and even bans, paid for in the main by the pharmaceutical industry in order to protect their income.

Hi. Can you go through this site with a spell-checker. There are a couple of grammatical and typo errors that I have spotted.
This isn’t a criticism. Great work! I just think that the copy should be correct as we want people to take this seriously. If there are typos and bad grammar, then it won’t be taken so seriously by the people who count… Here are a couple I have noticed on the Health page
Swedish Snus are the best proven safe and effective replacement for smoking

And there’s plenty of time to prepare and get some of these actions together!
We can start now and make sure people in some parts of the country aren’t banned from vaping on March 22nd by using the links in the post below to tell legislators we strongly condemn treating electronic cigarettes the same as burning, smoking, smelly tobacco:
http://www.ecigbeat.com/e_cigs_in_the_news/electronic_cigarette_calls_to_action/
